Please don't think less of me because of this. It's a problem--I admit it
Confession: I sometimes watch The Bachelor/ette. SOMETIMES. I never watched it until the season it was filmed in Paris and that was because my sweet friend Megan and I had just returned from student teaching in Paris and our wannabe-European hearts just pined for the City of Lights. So we would watch and point out things and places we recognized and say things like, 'I swear we bought a crepe from that stand.' {Which we probably did since that was pretty much all we ate. Which means we bought crepes from practically every stand in Paris.} And I'm sure we were completely annoying to anyone watching with us but we didn't care.
After that season I didn't watch again until I lived with my sister and her husband the year before I got married. She is such a bad example. I got sucked in and have watched most seasons since then. My mom says it's trashy and sleazy and she is right. {The Jake and Vienna fiasco? Come on now.} And it just gets more so every season it seems, right? Especially that whole 'Fantasy Suite' thing. I mean come on, girl, you know Chris Harrison is offering those keys to that other girl the bachelor 'thinks he might love' the very next night too, right? Just say no. And don't kid yourself that he just wants to spend the whole night talking and getting to know you better. I half-watched the last season with Ben since I had two newborns at that point and was very disappointed in some of his choices. He seemed like such a nice guy on Ashley's season and then turned out to be kind of...shallow.
Well, tonight starts The Bachelorette with Emily and I want to boycott it. But not really. But I should. I feel like she used the season she was on just to try to get her own season. {Although, I could be entirely wrong about this and she just really believes she will find true love this time around.} The commercials have already made this season seem a little ridiculous (why am I surprised? A glass slipper?!?) BUT it's partly filmed in Charlotte so I kind of want to be that annoying person again who points out things I recognize. I just really think that, as sweet as Emily is, she just wants a little fame and not so much a husband. Really. How many times has this worked? Not that many.
Aaand it's 9:25 so I better change the channel from the perpetual basketball that is on in this house to ABC. P-dubs is going to be thrilled. I guess this means I'm not boycotting it after all. But I might start next week.

I'm glad I'm not the only that got trapped! And now that I know someone who knows someone on it... : )
Delete...or maybe you'll watch the whole season and totally bash it even though you're hopelessly hooked to the drama!
